Look yourself in the mirror and ask these questions
I have a question for you, can you look at yourself in the mirror and answer these questions?
- In what ways are you preventing your own happiness?
- Are your actions guided by love or by fear, and why?
Yep, these are hard questions to answer, but they are there to help you go beyond the surface answers you may be used to giving and get to the root – the truth.
Louise Hay said “Mirror work is the most effective method I’ve found for learning to love yourself and see the world as a safe and loving place”
When you first ask yourself these questions in front of the mirror, you will, if like me, will be critical of yourself, how you look and how you sound and for sure it will feel strange – you may even be a little embarrassed.
But if you can get over those initial feelings and go back and stand or sit in front of the mirror you will begin to see how the mirror reflects back to you – the feelings you have about yourself. It makes you immediately aware of your resistance and where you are more open. It will clearly show you what thoughts and feelings you will need to change if you want to have a vibrant and fulfilling life.
As you learn to ask yourself these questions in front of the mirror you will be become kinder to yourself, and less critical – the aim is to release judgement and to be compassionate and caring instead. So try it again
Sit in front of the mirror and set a timer for 30 minutes.
Close your eyes and take two minutes to connect with your breath.
Open your eyes.
Spend a full five minutes looking at who you truly are.
And answer these three questions out loud…
☉ In what ways are you preventing your own happiness?
☉ Are your actions guided by love or by fear, and why?
Be open to what arises and compassionately learn from your answers
